Oops...

Well, I was going to post pictures of our spring break "camping" trip out at Lake Ouachita, AR on Mama T and Billow's house boat. We had some great pics : ( but then, when we got home, I gave Velvet the camera. Hence the title: Oops. Won't do that again. She just LOVES the camera. I guess it's time to give her our old one instead of the new one with all the good pictures on it. Too bad I had to loose a bunch of good ones to finally get that genius idea! So, here is one GREAT one of me feeding Vel that we somehow still have. LOL...

On a better note, Vel is definitely starting to free stand on her own - very exciting! But, she is such a dare devil (and excited about everything) that she will lean super far forward and start running to whatever she wants that is in front of her...we are working on it : )

Also, one of my best friends Cristen had her baby girl on Feb. 27: Little Miss Emma Kate. She is a real cutie pie and Vel just can't wait to play with her new friend! Here is a pic of her being really excited about seeing a picture of her on My Space...

Drew is counting down the days until school is out. I think he is just as ready (if not more ready) than the kids themselves! haha...

What Dads Will Do...

This was too great not to post. I am always amused at the lengths Drew will go to get a smile out of his girl : )

It was Jamie's 18th Birthday on the 28th...the girls (Diana (aka Dee-ahn-ee), Jess, Jams, Vel and me) went to the mall to shop for a cute top. We were in Urban Outfitters when we took this...who knew a dressing room could be such a cool backdrop!

That Rump of Hers...

and some other very cute pictures can be seen here. Our wonderful photographer, Amy Siniscalchi, came over the other day to do a session "just for herself". Of course we loved it. She has beyond exceeded our expectations in documenting this very amazing season of life. THANK YOU AMY! We have so loved being a part of your passion.

A Happy Cake Day & Good Morning Girl

Last weekend was our good friend 'T's (T for Tetsuya) 30th birthday!! Velvie and I set out to make him a cake - we sure had fun! I know, I'm a bad, bad mama for letting her taste the batter ; )

This is T and his wifey Patchi. Note the sash..."30 & THRILLING!" Gotta love it...that'll be me in about 2 years - yikes! We had a great time at the party - it was japanese themed and Patchi made fresh sushi. Amazing. Happy Birthday T!!!

This is basically what I see every morning...and I love it!

Funny Vel, Friendly Visits...and Christmas

Well, this has to be a long one, because it's been about a decade since I posted last! haha...First I want to give a shout out to our good friend Geof-Dogg (Geoffrey) who comes to stay with us when he's in town for his job based here in Dallas. If you like coffee, you should check it out! We love being 'Hotel Wight' and hanging with him while he's here. Usually (since he is getting a degree in theology at Gorden-Cromwell Theological Seminary) we also get some great insight on the Word which we LOVE. Thanks for visiting Geoffrey! Here's a pic of him and Drew having some man time...

Second, we've got a few updates on Velvet...she is crawling EVERYWHERE and is pulling herself up on everything she can. The back door is her very favorite - especially when the dogs are outside. She'll talk to them and bang on the glass all day long.

She has also gotten the hang of splashing. *my apologies for my voice - I hate how loud i sound since I'm right near the camera! The echo-y bathroom doesn't help my cause.

I love having my mom (the baby brain expert) around, she told me that sometimes when you catch the brain wiring something specific, it will make them laugh (which is SO cute) so that you keep doing it and it gets really well wired...I guess this particular day, Vel was wiring the 'H' sound...she only laughed at it that one day - and only for about 30 minutes. So interesting...SO FUN! : )

We've had to move some plants too...I found her one day looking like this...it took NO time at all!

Third, we went to Colorado for Christmas this year and had an absolute BLAST. Drew loves Colorado. One of his dreams is to live there one day. I fully support this dream : ) I think Velvie does too. She was loving the snow, loving the cold. We have a few great pics...as you can see, she is a total camera cheese-ball. The first is of her and G-did (the grandpa version of "P-did" which we all affectionately call my step-dad Patrick), the second is my sisters Jess and Jams (Jamie) and me and Drew hitting the slopes on most beautiful day of the trip - Patrick let us stay an extra day just to get it in - THANKS FOR A GREAT TRIP P-DID!!!

Wrestling Season and Time

Wrestling Season
Wrestling Season has officially begun! It is CRAZY!! But, it has started exceptionally well. The Wylie Pirate Wrestling Team finished in FIRST place at the Richardson Tournament against 13 teams!! Last year at the same event they finished fifth! Go Coach Wight : ) It's awesome to see him accomplish so much in his first few years of coaching. Here is a snapshot of the team celebrating the win...

Velvie is quickly becoming her daddy's biggest fan and is getting well acquainted with hanging out in the gym watching dad coach. She is also figuring out how to pass out in the stands amid all the commotion - whistles, screaming parents and buzzers - no matter, she's tired! : ) I'm not sure what I'm going to do when she doesn't fit in my lap anymore. Coach Wight always takes a little time out to come see us in the stands...Velvie LOVES it : )

Time
I am so so amazed at how fast it is going by. And I am a little sad today to be quite honest.
How do you capture the little moments of rocking your baby to sleep? I don't want to forget how she feels in my arms at six months old, or how she breaths or what she smells like. I love how her eyes roll back when she is wanting to stay awake, but the sleep is winning out. Her little sighs. Her very cute chubby cheeks and those crazy lashes. I wish i could keep the moment and come back to it in twenty years. I know I will miss it. And I will try to conjure it back up as best and as real as I possibly can when I can't hold her like that anymore. I can't believe how much she's grown in just the last 1/2 year.

Quite the busy Lady...

The week started off with a very cute dalmatian puppy!! We went to a city wide event in Wylie in the old downtown. They block off main street and there are tons of games, trick or treating booths, music and fun. Velvet never once cracked a smile. I think she was mad that she had a black dot on her nose.

Auntie Jampies (my sister Jamie) went with us and Vel seemed to have a better time when she was with her : ) Aren't they so cute together?? This is one of my favorite pictures of them!

Later in the week she was onto bigger and better (more serious) things...helping Aunt Jamie with her Pre-Cal homework...looks like she's taking after mom ; )

She is very very close to crawling. I couldn't believe I actually captured this on video. She hasn't done it since, but this was most definitely her very first true crawl step. (she was a bit frustrated, but she did so good! : )

She finished the week off by putting a sock on her head. I was in the kitchen, and all I saw was Drew dashing down the hall, and then dashing back. He was getting the camera - he was so proud she did it all by herself : ) haha...
